The H2O Project

Did you know that every 8 seconds, a child dies because of a lack of clean drinking water? That’s 10,000 children per day, and 4 million per year. In most cases, clean water is right beneath their feet, but there is no well — only disease-infested pools of stagnant surface water. The good news is that we can do something about it.

I am excited to announce that both Eikon and CREW are in the midst of participating in The H2O Project as a service opportunity during this season of Lent. The H2O Project is simple:

  • For two weeks, drink no beverages other than water.
  • Set aside all money that would have been spent on consuming pop, juice, milk, coffee, etc.
  • Pool the money to support Living Water International, a group that drills wells for communities who lack access to clean water.
  • Myself, all of the high school and junior high students, and all of the adult volunteers are participating. We pray that by giving up water for only a short time that we can impact a community of God’s children.

When the project concludes, I will report back here with how much money we raised.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” – Matthew 25:35
